We are so lucky to have the opportunity to meet famous authors and illustrators in our own back yard!  On Saturday, October 19th Lincoln School on the East Side will host authors and illustrators from 9am to 5:30pm.  For a mere $5 admission fee, you'll have the opportunity to hear them give half hour talks as well as have books signed (if you don't bring your own book, they'll have plenty for sale).  For a complete schedule click here.

Dan Santat, last year's RI Children's Book Award winner for Sidekicks, happens to be coming in from California a few days early which is why Hampden Meadows has the unique opportunity to have him visit our school on Thursday, October 17th.  Special thanks to the HMS PTO for supporting this incredible event.

Any of my former fourth graders know how much I enjoy the odd humor of Lemony Snicket, a.k.a. Daniel Handler.  For years I read The Austere Academy aloud to get children hooked on the Series of Unfortunate Events.  I think I like how the children are so smart and resourceful and the adults are so dim.  I also like that knowledge and kindness triumph over greediness and evil.
Lemony Snicket will be at the book festival and I'm so excited to finally hear him speak in person!  He has a new series All the Wrong Questions that he will surely talk about.
I hope to see you all there!
